The Info area contains information that is hosted
here on the Deist.info Website. The Links area points to other
interesting and useful places on the Web. The Information area of
Deist.info is not like Wikipedia. The site provides information on
Deism as seen through the eyes of a Deist. This
site is not neutral. It promotes Deism. But every effort is made to be reasonable and
logical. You be the judge. All of the information here should make sense. If it does not,
please bring it to the attention of the Webmaster so that it can be
made clearer. The links below and to the right lead to the key gateway
pages into the subject areas. The Deist Information subject
gateway pages include:
Deism is not necessarily easy to define. We spend some time on
definitions.
Deism is a natural religion. We tend to think of Deism having its
beginnings during the period leading up to and including the
Enlightenment. But the argument can be made that the essence of
Deism, natural religion, actually dates back much further. The
Origins of Deism gateway page leads you to some of the early Deists,
the English Deist of the Enlightenment, the French Deist and
American Deism.
Contemporary Deism. It is
important to look at the history of Deism, but where Deism is today is
really more important than where it has been. There are practically as
many points of view as there are Deists, but we can roughly divide
Deists into various sub-categories. Perhaps more importantly, Deism is
not static. The Deism of today is not necessarily the Deism of Thomas
Paine. We examine several modern approaches and points of view.
Deist Life. If Deism is to have
actual value, it is a belief system that must play a role in our lives.
So what do Deists do to live as Deists? What values, practices or guides
can there be in a religion that has no tenets, credo, rituals or codes?
What does it mean to be a Deist?
Deist Archives. I am trying to
build one of the largest archives of information of interest to Deists
freely available to everyone on the Internet.
